PROJECT LION is a UNICEF initiative — in collaboration with visionaries and seed funders Purvi & Harsh Padia — committed to changing the trajectory of the lives of India’s most vulnerable children using a multi pronged approach. Through PROJECT LION, UNICEF will evaluate and elevate the standards of care for children in institutionalized care to be sure each child’s basic human rights are protected and to ensure each child has legal paperwork, receives adequate nutrition, access to sanitation and consistent health care and education. In addition, each child will be paired with a NGO trained in child development and family reunification with a goal of placing children out of institutionalized care into long term family care. LION will also create alternative care models for orphans in institutionalized care that are more representative of family care environments and are proven to be most effective in the healthy, happy development of children. In the first 3 years, LION will serve and empower 200,000 Indian orphans and give them the hope and courage to dream of a brighter future. All funding and execution will be managed by UNICEF and held to it’s unparalleled efficiency among humanitarian organizations. Learn more about PROJECT LION on the UNICEF website and on Forbes.com.
