“A lioness is a symbol of strength, bravery and grace – similar to mothers and women around the world. By wearing this piece, you are not only claiming your power as woman and a mother, but also empowering India’s motherless children to dream of a bigger, brighter future. Welcome to the pride!”
~ Purvi Padia, founder of UNICEF Project Lion
NEW YORK, NY – May 2019 – Introducing LIONESS, a limited-edition jewelry collection designed by interior designer and philanthropist Purvi Padia in collaboration with London Jewelers to benefit UNICEF Project Lion, a non-profit aimed at improving the lives and prospects of the 1.5 million orphaned children of India.
The collection is gold, vintage-inspired, and centers around the motif of a shield of protection. It includes a simple gold pendant, and one encircled with diamonds (see above); a gold charm; a gold bracelet with full-cut diamond edging; and a signet ring. Prices start at $370 for the charm and go up to $4900 for the bracelet. The whole collection is for sale online with net proceeds from sales going to Project Lion.
Padia, a designer and humanitarian, founded Project Lion in partnership with UNICEF USA one year ago—it was the culmination of a lifelong dream. An ambitious and holistic campaign, Project Lion takes care of children’s daily needs—shelter, nutrition, and education—as well as more far-reaching ones: protection, advocacy, and, most importantly, permanent family care.
The Lioness Collection launched officially at an intimate Mother’s Day-themed brunch at Padia’s home in appreciation of the women who have supported the cause to date. Guests at the brunch included Sienna Miller and Tracy Anderson. The pendants, the first Lioness pieces to be produced, have caught on among celebrity mothers: Jenna Bush Hager, Olivia Wilde, and Irina Shayk have already been spotted wearing them.
